Real ‘Merkin Pale-in Ale

Real Merkin Pale-in Ale

…because I was desperate to give it a clever pun for a name. I made this beer because my last several batches have been very flavorful, slightly funky, and somewhat esoteric; I hadn’t made a straight-up simple beer for a while, one to drink casually while sitting on the couch and watching Battlestar Galactica every day. Ya know, if that’s your thing.

    • 8lbs. light malt extract
    • 8oz Caramel 20
    • 8oz Dextrine Malt
    • 8oz US 2-row
    • 2oz Cascade hops (bittering, ~1 hour)
    • 1.5oz willamette (aroma, ~15 minutes)
    • 1/2 teaspoon Irish Moss
    • Wyeast London ESB yeast
    • OG: ~1.065

Special Instructions: In addition to the standard bottling sugar, I added about 2 tablespoons of honey before bottling as well. So we’ll see how that goes…
